Beer, “Föhn”, Fun and a lot of great NonStop
The sun was out, the food was good and spirits were high at this year’s Munich-based GTUG IT Symposium. Indeed, how could spirits be anything other than raised with a program of intriguing and encouraging presentations on the future of NonStop. We even had chance to sample the local speciality: Beer; whilst learning about the “Föhn” phenomenon during a tour of this city’s great sights.
Hot on the agenda was an update on the latest developments of the NonStop ‘X’ platform, and the exciting times ahead as the mission critical world starts to learn that the limitations of ‘good enough’ are, well, perhaps not good enough, enough.
Elsewhere, minds were blown by Peter Kraft’s presentation on HP’s ‘Memristors’, which look set to change the way we think about storage entirely. We were also treated to a thoroughly entertaining exploration of the Rosetta Comet Chaser Mission, proving planning and execution are two very fluid concepts.
Whilst the program of talks and guest speakers was splendidly put together, the event as a whole was extremely enjoyable and managed to the finest detail. TCM would like to thank the GTUG and Connect organisers for making this year’s symposium a real pleasure and for introducing us to the charming city of Munich. We would also like to thank all of the attendees who stopped by the TCM stand for a ‘nip’ of our hometown’s finest single malt and a chat about TCM’s NonStop services.
We look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s GTUG event, and will hopefully bump into some of you at other Connect/TUG events throughout the year.
